Mediterranean diet menu plan pdf

What is the Mediterranean Diet? How to Start the Mediterranean Diet? Eat natural, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, whole nuts and grains. New studies appear on leading scientific journals regularly, supporting the healthfulness of the Mediterranean Diet.

These are some examples of studies confirming its health benefits: Boost your heart health: Diet alone could boost your heart health [1] Reach your ideal weight: People following a Mediterranean style diet have more long-term benefits and lose weight safely [2] Control your blood sugar: Mediterranean diet could help you prevent high blood sugar [3] Improve bones health: People from the Mediterranean countries have lower rates of hip fractures.

Consult your physician before beginning any nutrition program. Foods to Eat This is a sample food list: Fresh fruit. Every day Have 3 or 4 pieces of fruit. Make one of these fruits an orange; they are extremely high in antioxidants and phytochemicals, substances that protect us against problems. Berries such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries are also a must in this diet due to their antioxidants.

If you want to follow a Mediterranean diet, eat some fruit for dessert. That is how Mediterraneans eat their fruit the majority of the times. Have a salad in your main meals. Use olive oil and lemon for dressing; This is a powerful antioxidant combination. Tomato and Tomatoes products are a staple food in the Mediterranean diet; they contain lycopene.

Cut a whole tomato and spread it with olive oil and some basil as part of your side dish or include them in your salads. Whole Grains. Have a piece of whole wheat or whole grain bread with your main meals except with pasta. A week Have whole wheat pasta 2 or 3 times. It is low in calories, and the fiber enhances the feeling of fullness.

Eat dried beans, lentils, a week or garbanzo beans 2 or 3 times. Nutrition professionals at the Michigan State University tell us that eating 2 to 4 cups of cooked legumes every week could boost our heart health. Dry beans have fiber that could reduce cholesterol from the physical body. Eat legumes and a piece of whole grain bread to have the perfect protein. Vegetable protein does not put a load on kidneys as animal protein does. Morning break Have a handful of nuts as a snack in your.

Nuts are also a staple food in Mediterranean countries and are high in monounsaturated fat, the one which does not get stuck in the arteries. Read the food label and be aware of portions because nuts are high in calories. Scientific studies have found that almonds and walnuts could be the healthiest choices. Olive oil. Use olive oil in your meals both to cook and as a condiment in your salads. Use olive lemon and oil as a dip in your salads.

Fish and sea food. A week Have fish and sea food two or three times. Sardines and Salmon are excellent choices because they provide omega-3 oils, oils that the physical body needs but cannot create in enough quantities. Garlic and aromatic herbs. Use garlic and aromatic herbs as condiment. Garlic could be the leading contributor to the low incidence of high blood pressure in Mediterranean countries [8].

This is not Mediterranean diet, if you want to actually do a Mediterranean diet you need up the fats. You should add a lot more cheese, fatty meats, eggs, butter etc. and cut on the proteins and the carbs. The person that advised you on this has most likely never been to Europe. Also the Greek yogurt is NOT Mediterranean.

Western aka American Mediterranean diet if higher in saturated fats and refined carbohydrates, as we see here pasta and cheese, salt. With the Mediterranean diet has greater proportion of monounsaturated fats. It depends are you switching to eat healthier then western is good, but for health conditions like diabetes type 2 etc.. the real Mediterranean diet is better.

Loved your recipes, however the carbonara sauce is without pesto (I am from Malta an island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea). It is with eggs and bacon. Here is the link: . A very simple and refreshing recipe is the Tomato and Mozzarella salad – slice mozzarella (mozzarella di bufala best) and tomato….alternate the slices. Drizzle olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper. As for breakfast, we do eat cereal, sometimes scrambled eggs (more an English breakfast type) and sometimes pastries like crossaints etc.

This “Kαbοnοz Ydα” (Google it) diet routine seems exciting. I must have worked on me considering that I find myself I get a great deal of energy day to day and have lost 8 pounds on my very own bodyweight over the past month. This unique tutorial describes you every little thing about what should be carried out to realize your objective. .

Im a creature of habit.. I have either steel cut oats made with almond milk topped with sliced banana & maple granola or Homemade green smoothie with gluten free multi grain toast with almond butter, chia seeds & sunflower seeds. On the weekends I will make eggs with sauted veggies. Love breakfast time!!!

These all look delicious! Just starting the Mediterranean lifestyle for health reasons. Is it ok to use regular yogurt instead of Greek Yogurt? I absolutely do not like Greek Yougurt. I have tried to make myself eat it and, something about it I just don’t like.
